UT is making a smart choice here. Wisner lacks the talent to be a #1 RB in the SEC. Wisner IMO is making a bad choice. Should have come back as a #2 and spent the rest of his life as a UT legend like Rod B, Fozzy Whitaker, Whittington, Roschon, etc. 4 Quote
David Martin Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Losing Tre really hurts! He was the heart and soul of our running back room and was one of my favorite players. He had so much grit and passion when he toted the rock! Will follow his career for sure. 2 Quote
LTWOTIMES Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Good luck to him. Texas needs a true RB1 and Wisner isn't it. He's an average-to-good player. Excellent person but Texas needs to level up. 2 Quote

I agree, but perhaps he wanted to be able to start in order to have some national exposure to further his career. 1 Quote

Hate to see his career as a Longhorn end this way. Maybe he’ll look to the NFL instead of transfer portal ultimately so we don’t have to see him in anything other than burnt orange! 1 Quote

Where else are you gonna go & get starter carries?.. I mean, that’s kind of the issue. As much as we love Tre, not sure he is a starting caliber back for a team with deep CFP run/natty aspirations. We really need a hammer that can get there in short yardage plus a homerun hitter that can house it from anywhere on the field. Texas has no RBs that fits the description on either of those criteria. 1 Quote

Caver60 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Wisner’s absence makes absurdly easy arguments for Texas when they are trying to woo portal RBs: - no incumbent starter - no split locker room - no $ comparisons We are going to get at least one very good back, and probably two. Which is what Bobby, CJ, Gerry, and friends have been saying all along. 1 Quote

Bobby_Batronic Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Tre is getting bad advice, and will probably find out in the portal ( he’ll most certainly find out in the NFL) that he’s a role player and not a starter. If someone wants to pay him starter money then the joke’s on them. Winnerness can only overcome so much. I wish him the best. He’s been a gritty warrior for Texas, but I think this is a mistake. He could have been beloved contributor during a hopeful MNC run. I fear he’ll be just a guy somewhere else. May he prove us all wrong. Good decisions rarely follow bad ones. Quote
jbseamus83 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago @CJ Vogel Cam Cook entered the portal. He's not the bigger back that we assumed Texas would target, but with Tre in the portal now, is he someone that Texas will take a look at? Round Rock native and played at TCU before transferring down to Jacksonville St. Led the nation in rushing at that level, but is he talented or quick enough for SEC? Quote

Texas is likely to take two backs out of the portal after the Wisner news. Cook fits a role that Wisner would have played and has extreme production. We’ll see what the price tag is or his overall interest from a nationwide perspective. Talented player. Quote

I wouldn’t put trust in a guy who had to transfer down to get production and couldn’t get it at the p4 level. Quote

yoyocc Posted 44 minutes ago Posted 44 minutes ago As someone who's pretty far removed from my college days, I can tell you that Tre will look back on this decision with a tremendous amount of regret. I feel for him and his family, but I can't imagine the money is worth the glory that he'd likely have at the end of the year knowing he was part of Texas football history. Quote

If he just didn't show up for this morning for the trip to Orlando and didn't inform anyone in the program in person, it says a lot about Wisner. If true, he's burned a lot of bridges. There is an ocean of opportunity in this backfield. Quote
